Coughing Up Blood (Hemoptysis)
At Breathe Better Clinic, under the guidance of Dr. Davindra Kundra, we focus on the evaluation and management of respiratory problems, including coughing up blood, medically known as hemoptysis. Our aim is to help patients understand their symptoms and seek timely medical attention for better respiratory health.
Blood in the cough can appear as small streaks of blood in mucus or, in some cases, larger amounts of blood. It may be associated with respiratory infections, tuberculosis (TB), bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, or other lung conditions, including lung cancer. The cause cannot be determined by symptoms alone and requires appropriate medical evaluation.
At Breathe Better Clinic, we emphasize careful assessment of respiratory symptoms and guidance regarding suitable investigations and specialist referrals when necessary. Depending on the patient’s condition, evaluation may include chest imaging, sputum tests, or bronchoscopy.
Do not ignore blood in your cough. Even a small amount should be assessed promptly by a healthcare professional. If you cough up more than a few spots or streaks of blood, or experience severe breathlessness, chest pain, dizziness, or heavy bleeding, seek emergency medical care immediately.
